When I did my long course at the School of Artillery, RAA, Manly, we had a British officer Instructor in Gunnery who posed a fire discipline problem to the class and selected one of us to answer. I think the question was something like how do you order the guns to go to fire for effect? The reply was terse and to the point, but not taught at Larkhill:
"Crank it up and hook in!"
